Stone Cross Windmill Location Grid reference - TQ 620 043. OS Sheet - 199. From A22/A27 junction north of Polegate, take A27 east towards Stone Cross. Turn right at roundabout, signposted Stone Cross. Mill is three quarters of a mile, on right beyond traffic lights. Park in Windmill Green, not on track towards mill. A 5-storey white tower mill, built in 1875-6 for Samuel Dallaway, with unusual round windows. Last worked commercially in 1937. Now restored to working order by the Stone Cross Mill Trust. The mill has three pairs of millstones, including an unusual pair of French-made burrs. Mills wholemeal flour from local organic grain. Opening Times April to September, Sundays 14.00-17.00. Saturdays for Heritage Weekend and National Mills Weekend, 10.00 – 16.00. Parties by arrangement at other times.
