Shirley Windmill

About 2½ miles east of Croydon centre. Take A232 from Croydon to Shirley. Turn right at roundabout, then across second roundabout. Mill is half mile on right, in Post Mill Close, off the Upper Shirley Road, Shirley, Croydon, Surrey.

A 5-storey brick tower mill, built in 1855 on the site of an earlier post mill. Last worked in 1892. Mill has sails with skeleton shutters and fantail and a Kentish cap. Most machinery remains.

Opening times 2017
National Mills Sunday, then June to October, first Sunday in the month, 13.00-17.00. London Open House Sunday, 12.00-17.00. Guided parties only; tour takes 1 hour. For further details see web site.  School and adult groups at other times by appointment.
