A 5-storey Georgian cotton mill, built in 1784. Now a working museum of the cotton textile industry, with working looms and other machinery, powered by a 50-ton Fairbairn waterwheel and a working 1840s steam engine. Owned by the National Trust.

11th February to 5th November, daily, 10.30-17.00.
1st Jan - Feb 10th, & 8th November - 31st December, Wednesday to Sunday 10.30-15.30. See web site for further details. Groups during opening hours by prior arrangement.
