Raindale Watermill, York Castle Museum

In the centre of York, at the Castle Museum.

This mill stood originally on the North Yorkshire moors at the foot of the Raindale valley, near Pickering. Moved to the museum in 1953 and restored to turning order, with a 14ft overshot waterwheel dating from around 1800 and a single pair of millstones. 

Opening times
Museum hours: daily, 9.30-17.00. Mill not normally open in winter months.
The mill is manned by trained volunteers, and although we always do our best to open, this is not always possible.
