In the centre of York, at the Castle Museum.
This mill stood originally on the North Yorkshire moors at the foot of
the Raindale valley, near Pickering. Moved to the museum in 1953 and restored to
turning order, with a 14ft overshot waterwheel dating from around 1800 and a
single pair of millstones.
Museum hours: daily, 9.30-17.00. Mill not normally open in winter months.
The mill is manned by trained volunteers, and although we always do our best to
open, this is not always possible.
If you would like to find out when the Mill will be open, please call Amy
Lang on 01904 650329.
