  Mosty Lea Watermill, Oulton, nr Stone

About 2 miles N of Stone on A520 Leek road, then L before Langley pub, then 1st R into Longton Old Road, signposted Kibblestone Scout Camp (2 miles). Turn R into camp & report to Reception.
A watermill built in 1716 as a fulling mill. By 1756 it had been converted to flint grinding, probably by James Brindley. A 20-ft pitchback waterwheel drives a single grinding pan.  It also has a calcining kiln, three settling arks and a drying kiln. The mill was closed in 1962 and has since been restored to working condition.   

Opening Times
April to September, 1st  Sunday each month, 14.00 – 16.30; also Wednesdays 10.00 – 12.30. Heritage weekend, 11.30 – 16.30.  Phone to check before travelling.  Parties at other times by arrangement.
