Built in 1783 as the showpiece mills of Sir Richard Arkwright. Now a working textile mill museum, producing cloth on old looms. Originally water-powered by the river Derwent. Water turbines still exist. Tearoom, restaurant and shopping village on site.

Opening times 2017
All year, daily. Monday to Saturday 10.00-16.00.   Sundays 11.00-16.00. Closed December & Easter Sunday.  Machinery demonstrations 11.00 & 14.00. (Sunday 12.00 & 14.00)
