One mile south of Milnthorpe and six miles north of Carnforth on A6. Brown signs at entrance to Beetham. On M6, take exit 35 to Carnforth.

The mill dates from about 1740 and has some contemporary machinery. A Lowder mill, with four pairs of millstones and an internal high breast waterwheel, all working. Picnic area. A turbine has been installed in the river to generate electricity, which can be viewed from the mill.

Opening times 2017
Wednesday to Sunday and bank holidays, all year, 11.00-16.00. Group guided tours & milling on first Friday each month and by appointment. See also web site.
 
National Mills Weekend opening times 2017
Saturday & Sunday, 11.00 - 16.00. We'll be joined by amateur radio enthusiasts Sands Contest Group, who'll be in the Grain Store as part of the Mills on the Air programme. There will also be Mill tours taking place daily at 11.30am, and we'll have an illustrated talk about the development of Heron Corn Mill by our resident miller Mr Stuart Hobbs, which will run from 1.00pm - 2.00pm on Saturday!
Entry to this event is FREE, with homemade refreshments available from the barn, and freshly baked loaves for sale from the Shepherds Hut.
