Fountains Abbey Watermill

4 miles W of Ripon, off B6265 to Pateley Bridge. Follow signs to Fountains Abbey.

The surviving part of a 12th century granary & workshop range, originally a corn mill, later a sawmill. A Gilkes turbine was installed in 1928 to produce electricity. Restored in 1993-2001, plus a turning waterwheel and reconstructed hurst frame. Part of the Fountains Abbey estate. Owned by the National Trust.

Opening times
Daily: February to October, 10.00-16.00; Closes one hour later in April to September. January and November to December, not Friday. 

National Mills Weekend opening times
Saturday and Sunday, 10.00-17.00.
