Dyfi Furnace, near Machynlleth

On A487 Aberystwyth to Machynlleth road at Furnace. Car park opposite.

A charcoal-burning blast furnace built in 1755, which produced pig-iron for some 50 years. Later converted to a sawmill. The present spectacular waterwheel dates from this change of use.
