Finzean wood-working mills

On the Forest of Birse road, W of B976 at Finzean, midway between Banchory and Aboyne.

A complex of three mills:

  1. Bucket Mill. A single storey, timber-built 19th century wood-turning mill, with a 13ft 6in start and awe wheel, restored in the 1980s. Making wooden buckets. Buckets on sale.
  2. Forest Row sawmill & turning mill. Dating from the early 19th century, comprising a sawmill with a 14ft 6in wheel, a turning mill with a 9ft 8in wheel, and a generator with a smaller wheel, all still working and fed though an impressive system of lades.

Now owned by the Birse Community Trust.
